Engaging with our local communities keeps our flame burning bright. That’s why you’ll find us out doing good and giving back to the people around us.
NanDonation is our umbrella name for our local community initiatives. From donating excess chicken to local charities every week through No Chuckin’ our Chicken, to helping generate one million meals to Foodbank, we’ve always got a bunch of epic community activities on the go.

No Chuckin’ our Chicken
In 2018 we launched our No Chuckin’ our Chicken donation program which secures food from our restaurants that was otherwise headed for landfill and redistributes it to charities across Australia.
Each week, chicken from our restaurants is donated to local charity partners who use it to supply nourishing meals for those doing it tough. No Chuckin’ our Chicken is a global program and so far in Australia we’ve already donated over 450,000 meals!
One million meals to Foodbank
In May 2020, we set an ambitious goal to generate the cost of one million meals to leading food relief organisation, Foodbank, to help aid their national COVID-19 relief effort.
During the initiative, every time Aussies tucked into their favourite Nando’s meal over the value of $15, we donated money on their behalf to feed someone in need. We also donated more than 18,500 meals, generated by the number of PERi-PERi Sauce bottles sold through pick-up and delivery during the initiative.
Thanks to the generosity of our awesome customers, we reached our target, which translated to $500,000 to Foodbank, in just six weeks – four weeks ahead of schedule!
Foodbank bushfire relief
As devastating bushfires burned across our beautiful country during the summer of 2020, we saw so many of our communities hurting. To help those directly impacted by the fires, we donated $50,000 to Foodbank, who were urgently providing food and groceries to those in need.
Knowing our incredible customers wanted to help too, in February 2020, generous PERi-PERi fans around the country rounded-up their bill at the register and donated spare coins for the cause. In Victoria PERi-Perks members also donated to attend a special event. In total our customers raised almost $11,000 to support Foodbank’s bushfire relief.
Healthcare and Emergency Services discount
During the first COVID-19 lockdown in Australia, we offered a 50% discount on any takeaway order to Healthcare and Emergency Services staff, who were working bravely and selflessly on the front line of the crisis. This offer was taken up more than 1,300,000 times! In total we donated the equivalent of about $4.5 million or 650,000 meals to these heroes. That’s a lot of PERi-PERi!
While the 50% discount has ended, all Healthcare and Emergency Services workers who are registered with AHPRA are still eligible to receive 20% off their order at participating Nando’s restaurants.
Nando’s x Support Act
As long-time supporters of the Aussie music industry, we were devastated to see our thriving music scene grind to a halt in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keen to lend a hand, we chipped in over $205,000 worth of Nando’s vouchers to leading music charity, Support Act, which were then dished out as 15,000 meals through their COVID-19 grant program.
Over the years we’ve fuelled hundreds of touring musicians through artist catering and have brought emerging and established artists together for our Nando’s Music Exchange (MX) workshops. With MX and gig catering on hold due to the pandemic, this was the perfect way to keep supporting the industry!
